It’s a fairly light week for this latest installment of This Just In, so you know what that means. There’s probably a huge flood of elaborate deluxe editions on the way soon that will take forever to photograph. Bad news for your diligent Limited Run Games blog photo clean-up crew, but wonderful news for you, the fan of elaborate deluxe editions that take forever to photograph. For the moment, let’s share these simpler times together and enjoy the moment.
Warning! When you gaze into The Stone of Madness, so too does The Stone of Madness gaze into you. Luckily, this artistic stealth tactics game (it actually puts the “tactical” into “tactical stealth action”!) comes with a beautiful slipcover to help shroud its mind-shattering nature from hapless viewers. Or, you know, to help it look classy on your bookshelf.
Although it shares a general sort of visual perspective (top-down, effectively isometric) The Stone of Madness, The Last Camp has very little to with tactics or with stealth. It’s really just focused on action. So much action, in fact, that you really need two people to team up and take it all in together! Yes, this is a cooperative twin-stick shooter. And a pretty solid one! Set in a post-apocalyptic environment, as such things go. And since this is a physical disc release, that means you can continue playing it once the real world goes post-apocalyptic and all the download services no longer work. See, it’s thematically on-point.
And finally, a little something for the Shantae fans. Or maybe the Shantae haters? It’s our plush version of Shantae nemesis Risky Boots, the nefarious pirate who causes our favorite half-genie hero no end of hassle. We’re sure even in this adorable plush form, Risky’s still up to no good. You can see it in her expression. She’s scheming.
