Catch Up With Our Complete Run Video Series by Wrapping Your Tentacles Around the Latest

Move over, dad bod—this week, we’re celebrating the dad ’pod. Cephalopod, that is. As in octopus.
Yes, that’s right, our Complete Run retrospective video series has reached one of the all-time classics: Young Horses’ weird and wobbly parenting simulator Octodad: Dadliest Catch. In this deep dive (of sorts), take a look back at Octodad’s origins, its manifold inspirations, and most of all what makes it so improbably fun. A game where you’re constantly wrestling with uncooperative controls shouldn’t be enjoyable to play… and yet, here’s Octodad, a game that makes its entire point about struggling with the controls and ends up all the more memorable as a result. Life doesn’t make much sense, sometimes, but then again, we’re talking about a game where a mumbling sea creature wears a suit and tie and somehow managed to father a pair of human kids. Sometimes, you just have to roll with it.
Or, if you can’t roll, then at least to fumble along by way of haphazard tentacular action.
In case you’ve missed them, the Complete Run series has been popping up on our YouTube channel just about every Thursday afternoon. Check out the most recent episodes here, then click on over to our channel and hit that “subscribe” button. It’ll do ya good.
