January 3rd Blowout Sale 2022

December 28 2021

It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for: that time of the year where we sell through our reserves and leftover stock of out-of-print games. This year is our biggest sale yet, with over 200+ individual games being listed alongside blind boxes featuring sought-after titles. Plus, we’re marking LRG branded merch 15% off for the first time so that you can rep LRG in style. Be there Jan. 3rd at 10AM ET / 7 AM PT sharp. The sale will only last 24 hours. What remains after the sale will be held for future sales or become stock at the Limited Run Games Store, opening in North Carolina, April 2022. Quantities are limited, so prepare to checkout fast!

This year we’ll have some heavy hitters for sale, including Grandia HD, Fury, Ys Origin Collector’s Edition, Shantae and the Seven Sirens, Celeste, and 200+ other titles. You can also grab some DOOM Helmets and SEGA Astro City Mini Arcades, which were hot items earlier this year.

We will also have Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 blind boxes up for grabs. Any games we have fewer than 100 of will get allocated to blind boxes, so these will include some of our most rare games. You can see a full list of games and percentages on the blind box pages: Switch Standard, Switch Collector’s, PS4 Standard, PS4 Collector’s.

If this is your first January blowout sale, here’s a little FAQ to break things down, so you know what to expect and can come prepared to pick up the ones that got away.

Q: How long will it take to get my items?

A: Since sale items are currently in our warehouse, we aim to start shipping them out as soon as the sale ends and continue shipping throughout Q1.That being said, if you add any items that are in pre-production (items not included in the sale), your order will not ship out until all items are ready. Blind boxes will take longer to ship because they must be packed into the specialized gatefold boxes and randomized by our assembly facility into case packs that will help customers avoid duplicates. Please be patient with us as our sales volumes are high and there is a shipping queue.

Q: Is there a limit to what I can purchase?

A: Some individual items will have quantity limits. The cart will automatically not allow you to order more than whatever our limit is for those items, so as long as the cart allows you to check out with your order - you’re good to go!

Q: I thought LRG games were limited, how are you selling all these games?

A: Indeed, LRG only prints a single run of each game. We print enough to cover pre-orders, replacements for orders, and some extra for trade shows and sales like this. Our 2022 January sale is the biggest yet because, in addition to many of our trade shows being canceled due to COVID, we did a massive recount to prepare for a warehouse move happening in ‘22. We uncovered some rare inventory that we’re excited to give people the opportunity to pick up.

Q: I really want to pick up “X” game, will it be available and how can I get a copy?

A: You can see a full list of games here and be sure to read the blind box pages to see which games you can get and their percentage drops. We recommend showing up right at 10 AM ET because items will sell out fast! Read on below for buying tips.

Q: How can I give myself the best chance to secure a limited game?

A: We want to give everyone a fair and equal shot at getting items; for this reason, games inside carts do not hold up inventory until checkout is completed. LRG sale pros will tell you to save your payment method in your favorite browser so it auto-fills at the cart—then check out ASAP!

Q: I have an order that hasn’t shipped and it contains one of the items on sale - does that mean I won’t get what I ordered or that you won’t have replacements available if I need one?

A: There’s no need to worry about your open orders! We have to over-manufacture every product we release in order to have replacements or to meet the platform holder’s quantity requirements. For example, Nintendo requires us to order games to the nearest 1,000 units. This means that if we sell 6,005 copies of a game, we have to manufacture 7,000 copies. That leaves us with hundreds of leftovers that are not earmarked for any specific purpose. We still have replacement copies available for titles that have outstanding orders, and we definitely still have sold copies of games reserved for those who bought them.

Thank you for supporting us and happy shopping!
