Sonic X Shadow Generations Update: A New Q&A
Sonic X Shadow Generations Update: A New Q&A
You have (more) questions, we have (more) answers.
Rumor has it that, as of this writing, more materials relating to the Sonic X Shadow Generations statue overhaul are in the mail and should be arriving very soon for review by the Limited Run team. But “some stuff is in the mail, stay tuned” doesn’t make for a very interesting blog post, so let’s reach back into the Sonic mailbag to resolve move of your inquiries.
Devin:
Will the people that already have their statues delivered get a replacement or they're stuck with that one?
Limited Run Games:
That would be so rude. “Too bad you were an early recipient, better luck next time”? Nah. Everyone who ordered a Sonic X Shadow Generations Collector’s Edition will receive one of the newly remastered statues, whether or not they ended up with one of the initial wave.
SpanishEchidna:
Will there be substantial modifications to the mold of the figures? I.e. better indentation for the eyebrows, Shadow's mouth, hiding of the seam lines, etc.?
Limited Run Games:
We’ve definitely attempted to bring out details and make sure everything looks better and more on-model, while also minimizing the seams. As for how well we pulled that off, well, we look forward to hearing your feedback once the new statues ship.
Ryan G.
So I know it’s taking a while before i get my collectors item, but what takes so long? I'm not mad, I just want to know what goes into all this process and why does it truly take so long?
Limited Run Games:
Hopefully this weekly blog series has helped shed some light on that. Manufacturing an item like the Sonic X Shadow Generations statue is a very involved process that involves multiple teams in multiple countries planning, designing, testing, approving, manufacturing, shipping, packing, and distributing the item to thousands upon thousands of people. Simply getting a prototype designed, reviewed, revised, and approved took a couple of months with all the back and forth. And if you try to take shortcuts to speed things up, you can miss issues that a more comprehensive (which is to say, slower) approach would have caught... as anyone who has seen the original Sonic X Shadow Generations statue is aware.
Sparrowpelt01:
Has this situation cause more scrutiny to be placed on the design and manufacturing process of other collector products within your company?
Limited Run Games:
Absolutely. We’ve made changes to our processes all up and down the production line, and there have been a couple of cases where we’ve been dissatisfied with the initial results of a project and sent it back for improvements... or even switched to a different manufacturer in order to make things right. We’re committed to preventing further mishaps.
Woken:
Since those who got the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Collectors Edition got a code for a free game from the LRG Vault for their delay, can those who purchased the Sonic X Shadow Generations Collectors Edition expect the same as we have been waiting a year longer than them?
Limited Run Games:
That’s a fair question, and we will pass it along. Can’t make any promises, though.
Jason:
Will the wait be worth it?
Limited Run Games:
We certainly hope so! Ultimately, that’s for you to say once the finished (and improved) results are in your hands.
