I’m seein’ double! Two Capcom Arcade Stadiums!
Has it already been a week since the last entry of This Just In?! Well, no, actually it hasn’t. Last week’s went up on Friday, and here we are on the following Thursday. So no worries, life isn’t passing you by quite as quickly as you thought.
But this week’s new arrivals in the warehouse (which have been vetted and approved by our QA team and will be shipping to you imminently) will make the time pass quickly. Because you’ll be having so much fun, you see. This week brings us five new releases, except that they’re all the same release, but also they are 32 releases. No, this bizarre calculation isn’t the mysterious New Math that they’re teaching kids in school these days. It’s just that we have received five variants of a single collection that compiles 32 classic games. See how that works?
That’s right, it’s Capcom Arcade Stadium 2nd. And it is, as you are well aware by now, a collection genuinely bursting with greatness. Let’s walk through the variants, shall we?
Standard release
The “main” version of Capcom Arcade Stadium 2nd features the collection’s new key art, a charming cartoon panorama that captures elements of all 32 titles in a consistent style. You’ve got your obvious fan-favorites like Sakura, Mega Man, and Chun-Li, but also the bugs from Savage Bees. And... is that Cody Travers getting blitzed in the corner while playing a 1943 pinball machine? Incredible.
Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
For fans of the cute look, this first variant splashes a classic “chibi” illustration across the front of the box. Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo (and its more traditional brawl-based companion title, Gem Fighters: Mini Mix) pulled a bunch of Street Fighter and Darkstalkers characters into a work centered around color-match puzzle action while transforming them into tiny versions of themselves with giant skulls. The look may have changed, but as you can see from the way Ken is grinding Dan Hibiki’s face into the dirt with his foot, the spirit of the franchise remains indelible.
Street Fighter Alpha - Warriors Dreams -
Now, some people prefer the more traditional view of Street Fighter, and this alternate cover provides with an atmospheric painting of Ryu and Ken. This illustration is specifically tied to the original Street Fighter Alpha, and it’s a special treat for fans: This painting originally appeared as cover art for the PlayStation and Saturn ports of the game exclusively in Japan. We missed out on it 30 years ago, but here in 2026, Limited Run Games has put things right at long last.
Night Warriors: Darkstalkers Revenge
Do you see a theme developing here? We had the puzzle game that combined Street Fighter and Darkstalkers. Then we had Street Fighter. Now we have a cover for, yes, Darkstalkers. Actually, the second Darkstalkers, which is easily confused with the original if you go by American localized titles alone (Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors and Night Warriors: Darkstalkers Revenge—this is the latter!). It’s another great and moody painting from Capcom’s awesome mid-’90s era, and it looks every bit as striking here as it did back in the day.
Megaman 2: The Power Fighters
So let’s end on a different note: a Mega Man game! Ah, but is it actually that different? Megaman 2: The Power Fighters was Mega Man’s second outing in arcades (well... third, if you count the PlayChoice-10 version of Mega Man 3). And it was, essentially, a fighting game. You know, like Street Fighter and Darkstalkers. When you think about it, this turn of events was sort of inevitable from the moment that Dr. Light taught X the hadouken. And it’s not like you’re doing grapples and combos here; it’s more like a succession of amped-up boss fights from the regular Mega Man titles. Anyway, The Power Fighters didn’t come to consoles for years and years after its release, so having both it and its predecessor (The Power Battle) on a single disc is kind of awesome for those who remember longing to give it a whirl in the ’90s but whose local arcade didn’t have a machine.
Whatever your cover selection, you should expect your Capcom Arcade Stadium 2nd order to show up at your doorstep soon! Provided you ordered the PlayStation 4 version. Switch carts are still in the works, since they take a little longer to assemble. But they shouldn’t be too much longer....
