Sonic X Shadow Generations: And Now For Something Completely Different

Sonic X Shadow Generations: And Now For Something Completely Different
Well, not completely different. More like... just different enough.
Over the past few months, we’ve been tracing the progression of our overhaul of the statue included in the Sonic X Shadow Generations Collector’s Edition. (Spoilers: it’s coming along really well!) Throughout this process, though, we’ve received a lot of questions about a different game altogether: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.
But that’s OK! It makes sense. Both games star Sonic, both games feature a statue in their collector’s editions, and both are shipping later than we had originally intended.
The difference is that nothing went wrong with CrossWorlds; we simply pushed out the ship date to ensure that we had a little extra time to get the statue component 100% right. And, since so many of you have asked, we can say that the extra time is paying off. We’ve received samples and made notes for refinements to bring the CrossWorlds statue 100% in line with the design we had originally intended.
The early statue sample we received looked pretty good. Check out those light-up effects!

Sadly, a closer examination reveals a few sour notes. The background deco behind the cars included an extraneous ring. The logo didn’t fit into the space correctly. And Sonic’s car was just a little too dark.
So, we requested a new sample. Our manufacturers resolved those problems precisely in the latest statue build. The background looks correct, the logo is proportioned properly, and Sonic’s ride has a more vibrant metallic quality.

Of course, the sample still needs to undergo licensor review and approvals. But we feel good about it! Sonic and Shadow’s statues—both of them—are coming together nicely.
