Sonic X Shadow Generations: What’s in the Box, Pt. 2
Chao bella.
Happy Sonic’s 35th anniversary! Well, that was a few days ago, but some things you celebrate all week. Or month. Or year, even. It’s a special occasion.
As things continue to simmer away behind the scenes with the newly revamped Sonic X Shadow Generations statue, we don’t have much news to report. But “Sorry, we haven’t heard anything from the manufacturers in a few weeks while they attend to details” doesn’t make for much of an update, so instead we will share another installment of... (drumroll here) What’s in the Box.
As with our previous peek inside the box to look at the artbook, this is simply a chance to highlight the other goodies included inside of the Collector’s Edition. All of these items have been manufactured, passed quality approvals, and are simply waiting in our climate-controlled warehouse until the new statues arrive.
This time around, we’re looking at the Chao figurine set. The Sonic X Shadow Generations includes a set of three different Chao characters: your basic Chao, the luminous Hero Chao, and the wicked-looking Dark Chao.

All three figurines ship together in a single windowbox, which means you can display them without needing to bust open their packaging.

i can be your angel... or your devil
However, if you do want to bust open their packaging, that’s OK too! Each Chao figurine stands about two inches high and includes a tiny transparent display stand so that you don’t need to worry about their stability despite their rounded feet and action poses. Well, as close to action as these nubby little guys can get.

The individual figurines are molded in solid plastic—similar to vinyl or PCB, with just the slightest hint of give to the surface in order to minimize scratches.

The Hero Chao’s halo is molded to have solid contact with its ears. Antennae? Whatever those little nubs branching out from its noggin are meant to be. Despite the small size and delicate-looking design, it feels pleasantly durable in the hand.

And finally, the Dark Chao. A different component of the Collector’s Edition refers to Dark Chao as “evil” and “malcontent.” Maybe so, but it’s hard to be scared of this little guy. He’s too adorable to be truly wicked. A scamp, maybe. But evil? We’re not buyin’ it.
Again, this entire set is included in the Sonic X Shadow Generations Collector’s Edition box. If you have the game on order, you’ll receive these, along with all the other contents of the box, once the new statues are complete!
