“The Complete Run” Explores the History of Limited Run Games in Video Form

Now that we’ve made it through the madness of LRG3, it’s time for the next big thing. Well, big-ish thing. Not quite as big as LRG3, I’m afraid. But still pretty big!
We’ve launched an ongoing video series documenting the history of Limited Run Games, game by game. This is a very different production than the excellent My Life in Gaming documentary from a few years back—where that was focused on the story of Limited Run Games itself, this series is about the story of Limited Run’s games. That is to say, it’s about the actual games—their design, their history, the studios behind them, and the physical versions we’ve produced in partnership with their creators.
The Complete Run naturally begins with an episode focused entirely on Limited Run Games catalog number #001: Breach & Clear for PlayStation Vita. What is Breach & Clear? How does it play? What influences helped shape it? See for yourself here:
If you’ve ever seen my own Video Works projects over the past few years, you should have a pretty good sense of what to expect from The Complete Run. You can also expect the series to evolve over time as we move further into the Limited Run catalog... and as we move away from the current global pandemic. The original vision for this series was that I would travel to meet with developers and discuss the creation of their games on-camera, which obviously isn’t a great idea at the moment—but it’s definitely on the agenda for the future, once we can safely fly again.
The videos are also the starting point for an even bigger project: A series of books that will dig even deeper into these games and show off the contents of each release, share insights from developers, and showcase the various collectibles that go alongside each game. You can look forward to the first volume later this year, with further books to come as The Complete Works continues its steady march through the history of Limited Run Games!
If you’re not already subscribed to our YouTube channel, now’s the perfect time to rectify that! Check out the first episode of The Complete Run now, then check back each Thursday for another episode that details the ins and outs of a Limited Run release or two.
