Vault Alert: One Last Chance for THQ Deep Discounts

Jagged little thrill.

By The LRG Team

The most recent Limited Run Vault partner drop comes to an end soon in order to make room for the next wave of last-chance opportunities. Which means that this is your last chance for that last round of last chances, if you see what we mean, including the two titles from our second partner drop offered in collaboration with our corporate cousins at THQ.

Jagged Alliance 3

Despite the name, this is actually the 14th entry in the Jagged Alliance series, not the third! But the number at the end speaks to its nature and quality: the series debuted back in 1994 from legendary developer Sir-Tech, of Wizardry fame, and this is the first entry to stand as a proper sequel and advancement of the saga since 1999’s Jagged Alliance 2.

Developed by Haemimont Games, Jagged Alliance 3 offers an updated, fully modern interpretation of the tactical combat systems that made the older games such standouts. Players can recruit dozens of mercenaries to fight their way through guerrilla engagements whose outcomes have enormous ripple effects that shape the overall campaign. Jagged Alliance 3 gives you control over fine details—all the way down to taking aim at a individual parts of an enemy’s body—while also requiring you to manage details on a larger scale, such as managing the course of the overall conflict and outfitting your squad for success.

Outcast: A New Beginning

For those who prefer something a little lighter than Jagged Alliance 3’s constant push-and-pull of granular tactics and large-scale map control, Outcast: A New Beginning also follows up on a 1999 computer classic (the original Outcast) with modern design and tech sensibilities. An open-world adventure in which Cutter Slade, the hero of Outcast, seeks to find his missing daughter by helping his allies to prevent an alien invasion, A New Beginning gives you a massive alien world to explore and dozens of tasks to tackle as you build up your skills and resources.

Physical editions of both games are available for a shockingly low $9.99 on PlayStation 5... but only for as long as the current Vault offerings last. (Which, you know, won’t be much longer.)
