It’s Even Easier to Read to Succeed, Now That We’ve Opened Book Preorders
Order now, read later.
If you woke up this morning and realized that you forgot to set an alarm to remind you to preorder Phoenix Edition 5, Leonard Herman’s two-volume update to the world’s longest-running chronicle of video game history, we have good news for you! You didn’t miss out after all. Beginning immediately, all Limited Run/Press Run books are moving to an open preorder model.
What does that mean, precisely? Well, until now we’ve handled books more or less the same way as we do games: They go up for presale for a few weeks, we order the books based on those orders, ship them out once they arrive, and put the extras up for open order. But books are not games, as you’ve surely noticed, so we’ve decided to treat them accordingly. Why close preorders only to take fresh orders later? Why not just keep preorders open until the books arrive and the preorders become standard orders? That’s the way just about every other bookstore does it, so maybe we should too.

So, Phoenix Edition 5 is no longer a limited-time preorder, meaning that you can still place your preorder for both volumes any time between now and the time they ship early next year. See for yourself! Click on through and have a look:
(We’ve also tweaked the name of the books slightly per the author’s request, but that has nothing to do with the preorders.)
Additionally, we’ve reopened preorders for -30- A PlayStation Retrospective, which has been printed and is currently in the final assembly process before being shipped out. We expect that to arrive here at LRG HQ sometime in October, whereupon it will see immediate dispatch. But you can go right on ahead and preorder it now to ensure that your copy goes out in the first batch of shipments.
Here’s a final printed (but not bound) page sample for you to enjoy:

Speaking of which, John Harris’ We Love Mystery Dungeon will be arriving at the warehouse in a week or two. If you missed the preorder window on that one, no problem—once we’ve shipped advance orders, you’ll have a second chance to pick up a copy for yourself.
Books, of course, are available on a “while supplies” last basis. You should have plenty of time to pick up these OR any of the older books currently available in the Summer Reads Sale. But it never hurts to get ahead of the curve.
