LRG at PAX East 2023

I’m sure your schedule is filling up, but you do not want to miss the industry’s retro restorers and captains of collector’s editions, Limited Run Games. With show exclusives, signings and games on show, Limited Run is packing a punch at this year’s PAX East. Let’s run through it:

Who:

Limited Run Games has unlocked the achievement of physically publishing over 1,000 titles, spanning from niche indie games all the way to big collaborations with legends like Konami and LucasArts. The publisher’s Carbon Engine technology powers their company vision “Forever Physical”, enabling well-loved releases from the past to be reunited with gamers on all-new hardware. Limited Run Games will be bringing over 50 different limited physical games to PAX East which will be available for sale across Switch, PS4, PS5, and Xbox including: TNMT: Shredders Revenge, No More Heroes 1+2, Contra, DOOM, and even Castlevania merchandise. Games to play:

Kung Fury: Street Rage – Ultimate Edition

Step into the role of Kung Fury, Hackerman, David Hasseelhoff and others in Kung Fury: Street Rage – Ultimate Edition, based on the iconic Kung Fury film by Laser Unicorns. This 80s throwback side scrolling beat ‘em up adventure is coming to PlayStation 4, 5 and Nintendo Switch, where gamers can experience the fun of 2 player co-op mode and all-new levels and boss battles in the A Day at the Beach expansion. For gamers at PAX East, however, they’re in for a treat as the source material, a Kung Fury arcade cabinet, will be available to play. Developer Hello There Games will release Kung Fury: Street Rage – Ultimate Edition with Limited Run and The MIX (Media Indie Exchange).

• Developers Hello There Games will be available for media appointments on Thursday 23 and Friday 24
• Everyone who plays the game will receive an exclusive 10% off coupon for a physical copy of the game.

River City Girls 2

For fans of the beat ‘em up genre, this is certainly not one to miss! River City Girls 2, available on all platforms, is a brightly coloured, action-packed adventure with a non-linear gameplay, knuckle-busting techniques and both local and online co-op functionality. An awesome anime intro and comic book cutscenes add to the visual impact of the game, and with River City now bigger than ever, there’s even more to see.

LUNARK

A pixel-art sci-fi adventure set in the midst of a rebellion against a totalitarian regime, LUNARK is a modern take on the 2D cinematic platformer genre of the '90s. Run, jump, hang, climb, roll, and shoot your way through gorgeous and mysterious locations. LUNARK physical pre-sales start March 24th

Show Exclusives 

Not only will gamers be able to test their skills on River City Girls 2 at PAX East, there will also be a show exclusive variant cover! No one enjoys a spoiler so you’ll have to come by to check it out. And if that wasn’t enough, River City Girls 2 Director Bannon Rudis and Artist David Liu will also be available for signings on Saturday 25th at 4PM ET

A special PAX East convention variant, Limited Run will have none other than Star Wars: The Force Unleashed available for fans of George Lucas’ epic cinematic universe at the show. Nostalgia for those who remember and novelty for others, the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed VHS and steelbook special variant not only has the retro feel on the outside with its slipcover, it also features a VHS style box. High attention to detail has also been paid to the game’s steelbook case, creating a spectacular highlight for any gamer’s collection.

Press Run:

Introduced to the world in late 2022, Press Run is Limited Run Games’ very own book imprint, with which they publish standalone books on a monthly basis. Naturally, Press Run focusses on books about video games and games-related topics and some titles will be available at PAX East 2023.
