Yes, it’s a very music-themed entry this week, featuring a game about music and the music of a game. Roll up! Roll up! See the show!

Hi-Fi Rush Smidge Edition

First up this week, we have the Smidge Edition of Hi-Fi Rush. The standard edition showed up a little while back, and that perfect excellent and wholly normal PlayStation 5 disc is included here, with all its attendant packaging.

However, this version comes in a special box styled after your in-game pal and advice-giver, Smidge. Inside of Smidge (or rather, inside of his effigy) you’ll also find an impressively substantial soundtrack—three whole compact discs worth of music. The soundtrack comes in a three-panel gatefold package and also includes a small insert that gives a listing of the included tracks along with some notes from the creative team behind the game and its music.

(Note that there’s been some talk online about issues with a physical pressing of Hi-Fi Rush—those do not affect the LRG releases.)

Tenshi No Uta: The Angel Verse Collection Vinyl

If music is your thing, chances are good you’ll dig the first-ever vinyl record we’ve showcased here on This Just In: the single-disc companion piece to the Tenshi No Uta Collection. That previously Japan-only RPG series came to the West for the first time (officially) through our release, and it brought with it some excellent tunes, the best of which are pressed to wax here.

The music of Tenshi No Uta comes to us from two of the 1990s’ greats: Michiko Naruke, whose most popular work is probably the Wild Arms soundtrack, and Shinobu Ogawa, whose tunes you’ve very like heard in our Valis collections. Those are some real heavy hitters, and once this LP ships, you can rock out to their work any ol’ time you like.
